Comments : Came aboard just before the '78 Middle East adventure and left from GTMO following the
Bath shipyards overhaul. Too many stories to tell and names/faces to remember. I've only stayed
in contact with Lande Adams, who is alive and well - ageless, in fact. Some fond memories...
- Captain's mast (119 days restriction and $1,090 in fines) Thanks, Veasy, for the memories. I'm
now a law-abiding taxpayer.
- Karachi, Djibouti, and Port Sudan. Did we see the nicest places or what? Remember kerosene and
Coke in Djibouti?
- Tattoos in Marseilles, with Cognac and Procol Harum
- Antwerp, Belgium and "Adopt a Sailor"
- Movies on the mess decks (way before video), sliders, mid-rats and the occasional late-night
snack from the Officer's Mess.
And on and on. Married 23 years, engineering degree, two grown kids, nice job in the water
utility business, balding and overweight. Hope all are still alive and well. Binnings, Matt Dillon,
Gary Kopf, Ed Kenny, all the machinist mates (glad to see Burnout on the roster) it would be nice to
know you're still kicking. Hey Rudy! saw your post. Hope mama and the kids are well.
No way to spend 4 years on a boat with 250 men and not have a special place set aside in the
memory banks. E-mail at will.
